Why an acne routine still needs moisturizer

Acne-prone skin can still become dry or irritated. A simple moisturizer labeled non-comedogenic or “won’t clog pores” can support tolerance, especially when an acne treatment is drying.

Use the current label

Check the intended use, directions, warnings, and ingredient list on the package you actually have. Formulas and claims can change. Follow the label and do not use a cosmetic in a way the directions do not support.

Change one thing at a time

Keep the rest of the routine stable while you judge a new product. This makes irritation easier to identify. A small-area test may reduce the area exposed, but it cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur later.

Safety limits

Introduce one change at a time and follow treatment labels. Painful, scarring, or persistent acne deserves care from a board-certified dermatologist.
